HAVEN HOUSE LAUNCHES EMERGENCY APPEAL
Over the last 5 years Haven House has successfully delivered services to children and families within the hospice and wider community. However all of this is now under threat as we struggle to find the funds to continue our work.
Our Chief Executive Ian Sparks says “Since opening our doors in August 2003 we have seen a 376% increase in the care provided to children and families. In this year alone the number of new families using our services has increased by 25% and we have also seen a further 50% increase in our day Care provision.
Unfortunately this success all comes at a cost. Like all charities we have seen demand for our provision grow but income has dropped off significantly due to the downturn in the economy. If we do not take action now Haven House faces an uncertain future. We desperately need your support to keep our services going. That is why we are launching our emergency appeal.”
We need to raise £500,000 in the next 6 months to ensure all of our care services can continue. We have already made major savings in all other aspects of our work.
We depend on our supporters for the majority of our funding. We are appealing to you to help the vulnerable children and families who desperately need your help.
“When an older person dies you lose the past but when a child dies you lose the future. That’s when you realize you have lost the best thing in your life and nothing will ever be the same again. If a child loses both parents they are called an orphan but there is no word for parents who lose a child – that’s how awful the loss is”. Parent
Community
To help us raise over £1.8 million each year we rely on the creativity and generosity of our local community. So if you want to shake a bucket, jump out of a plane, cycle to Paris, ride a motorbike across India, hold a raffle, run a fair, put on an event or volunteer.

Haven House has been hugely supported by our local faith groups and we have received income through appeals, congregational giving, special events and the opportunity to come and speak to your congregations. If you are a member of a faith community and would like us to come and speak to your congregation or even be our ambassador we would love to hear from you.

‘Looking after the pennies…’ If you are able to take a Red Box for your home or business then you would help raise awareness of the work that we do as well as collect vital money for our support.
