Role Purpose (Summary)

The Corporate Fleet area of the Claims department in Chelmsford is looking to recruit a Claims Controller experienced in handling cases involving personal injury. The Controller will be expected to effectively handle an individual caseload within specified customer service standards, and authority levels

General Description

• Pro-actively seek to establish liability and indemnity on all claims being handled by them.

• Effectively prioritise case load.

• Manage all claims competently to ensure that they are properly reserved & settled at optimum cost.

• Act as a technical referral point in order to provide excellent claims handling service.

• Develop / maintain in depth knowledge of legal & regulatory matters essential to handling personal injury claims.

• Act as a technical referral and/or mentoring point with the view to developing fellow members of staff.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience of handling motor claims involving personal injury & associated losses
• Proven interpersonal skills (confident liaising with internal / external parties at all levels on a range of issues)
• Effective communication skills, written and verbal, demonstrated by experience liaising with internal / external parties at all levels
• Ability to develop and maintain solid working relationships with both internal / external parties
• Ability to organise workload, under pressure, whilst meeting tight deadlines
