Job Description

HR Consultant Colchester, Essex Competitive Salary + Benefits

Our client is looking for an experienced HR Consultant to join their friendly team, based in Colchester.

You will be responsible for the management of your own client account base, to ensure provision of the company’s services, in line with the contract of the individual client. This will include maintaining client files for effective and efficient working. You will provide exceptional service to the company’s clients in all aspects of work and promote the company at every opportunity and projecting a smart and professional image at all times.

HR Consultant - Key duties

  • Write, produce and develop, on an ongoing basis, the policies, rules and procedures for all clients to produce their Company Handbook

  • Write, produce and develop, on an ongoing basis, the terms and conditions of employment for all clients

  • Liaise with advisory services on checking current legislation and best practice, in relation to all work carried out for clients

  • Conduct benchmarking and surveys with other organisations in line with Team Business Objectives in terms of current personnel/Human Resources and management best practice

  • Make comparisons from company to company regarding terms and conditions of employment and policies, rules and procedures

  • Monitor and review existing employment contracts and company handbooks produced for clients

  • Manage recruiting on behalf of clients and monitor administrators assisting in the process. Reviewing job applications on behalf of our clients, short listing candidates for first interviews, conducting initial interviews and short listing for second interviews or client selection

  • Be actively involved in writing, creating and developing appraisal systems

  • Liaise with the Consultants’ Administrators and Health and Safety Consultants in order to arrange Health and Safety Audits, Training and preparation of Manuals for clients

HR Consultant – Candidate

You will have:

  • Professional association with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, preferably at Graduate level or higher

  • Sound up to date knowledge of employment law

  • Committed to CPD

  • Generalist practical personnel/HR experience at officer level or above

  • Sound level of general experience in different industries

  • Problem solving

  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and phone

  • Confidential professional possessing a business focus

  • Excellent presentation skills, adjusting style according to client

  • Drafting skills to facilitate the preparation of client documentation

  • Facilitating skills/project management

  • Prepared to travel and posses a valid driving licence
