Ruby on Rails Full life Cycle developer
Cambridge/London
£25k-£50k + benefits dependant on experience
As a Ruby on Rails developer with Passion and verve, you will play a key role in developing an innovative web based system from the ground up in a fun and rewarding start-up environment with 5 other coders. You will have the opportunity to be instrumental with the design process early on and help shape our product to become a market leader. You will have a demonstrable background in web based programming with a passion for Ruby and a flair for robust, clean coding. You will have a keen interest in agile development processes and be a strong, communicative team player.
Your Responsibilities Include:
Ruby on Rails software development
Database schema design
Object oriented Programming and design
Front-end web development using JavaScript, XHTML and CSS
Required Skills:
Demonstrable track record developing Ruby on Rails applications/examples
Strong understanding of good code design principals such as DRY and thin controller/fat model
Understand the key factors in making your code secure.
Unit testing
Experience in MySQL, XHTML, CSS, JQuery/PrototypeJS and RJS
Working knowledge of unix-like environments such as MacOS and Linux.
Desired Skills:
A background in modelling complex data and data analysis
Knowledge and experience of using development approaches laid out in books like The Pragmatic Programmer and 37signals Getting Real.
