Supervising and developing teams of Commercial Underwriters to write profitable commercial insurance business to meet the Commercial strategy and business objectives. Ensure that Commercial Underwriting guidelines are set, monitored and managed to achieve the departmental goals and strategy. Support Commercial management and other senior Commercial technical staff in account management work that ensures achievement of Commercial growth and strategy.
The ability to assess technical risk and make decisions at the highest level on all aspects of products within strategy and underwriting philosophy, and on cover outside of those products. A good understanding of the regulatory environment for the industry and the Commercial insurance environment.
Good supervisory, training and account development experience and skills, enabling the individual to be able to interpret the strategies required to achieve the objectives laid down in the plan and manage underwriting teams to deliver those objectives.
Good keyboard skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel to intermediate level, and preferably Access and PowerPoint to a basic level.
At least ACII/Diploma or equivalent technical insurance qualification
