TCL/LJ 256138: Our client seeks a Planning Assistant for an assignment within its Sustainable Communities division.

We are acting for an E London based local authority

The post will be located in Romford, RM1 and will be for 36 hpw, Mon-Fri, normal business hours. However, flexiblity will be required as may be required to work extra hours as necessary.

This is anticipated to be, initially at least, a 2 to 3 month assignment.

Please note that under a special arrangement we have with a leading umbrella company, temps who elect to get paid under this route will receive, in addition to a higher hourly rate of pay, the following benefits which are not available under PAYE:

Essence of role:

You will be engaged to contribute as a team member to exercising the planning control functions of the Service in accordance with statutory provisions, Council policy and procedures.

Duties will include dealing with proposals, applications and action necessary under planning and related legislation including site visits, as well as informal submissions and preparing reports, giving advice and making recommendations thereon. Occasional working out of hours may be necessary.

More specifically you will work within the Area Team covering ‘other’ applications [eg adverts etc.] but also householder applications.

Candidate requirements (*indicates must be CLEARLY EVIDENT FROM YOUR CV, not just your covering letter, to avoid auto-rejection by client) include:

*IT literate in MS Windows, and working knowledge and experience of GIS ArcView & AutoCAD systems

*Effective interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written

*Proven Research and Analytical skills

*Use of road vehicle essential

UK local authority or other public sector experience advantageous, but not a prerequisite
