Audit Manager vacancy based in Cambridge.
Working for one of the top accountancy firms in the UK, you will be be responsible for managing your own portfolio of audit clients as well as overseeing the management and development of your team.
Day to day you will be have the following duties and responsibilities as part of the job:
Audits
· supervise a number of audit teams and ensures planned audit work is appropriately completed to satisfy audit objectives
· plan and co-ordinate all aspects of audit planning, including staffing requirements
· ensure key matters which arise during the audit which were not identified at the planning stage are properly assessed
· highlight all key issues which may affect the audit opinion to audit partner
· assist audit partner in establishing audit objectives and overall scope
· review the work of in-charge accountants and also of office specialists (tax, risk)
· approve the in-charge accountant's selection of audit procedures
· check that audit workpapers have been properly reviewed and that audit files are completed in a timely manner and are properly filed and maintained on the network
· determine that all audit reports reflect the work performed and meet set reporting and auditing standards
· finalise draft of the report to management
· ensure appropriate on-the-job training is provided for junior members of the audit team
· responsible for controlling the audit in relation to timescales, budgets and risk management procedures
Client Issues
· remains updated on changes to clients' business
· responsible for managing key client portfolio and building and maintaining good working relationships with all colleagues and clients
· assists in the production and presentation of proposals for new work
· follows through on any concerns regarding an audit assignment with audit partner and manages to balance risks and commercial returns.
· is actively involved in office marketing events, is an 'ambassador' of the firm, is aware of the wide range of services the firm offers and suggests innovative products, whilst pro actively identifying cross selling opportunities
Task Management
· ensures the firm discharges properly its professional duties
· consistently achieves deadlines and understands the commercial implications of actions relating to productivity, recoverability, fee income and client service
· accurately records time spent and documents reasons for overruns
· communicates workload with senior manager or partner
Staff Management
· responsible for managing audit teams on specific assignments, with specific line management responsibility for a group of staff
· motivates and coaches team members and provides feedback through regular communication and timely appraisal whilst being familiar with relevant training and development options
Training
· attends training courses as identified in order to develop both technical and personal skills and keeps records for CPD purposes
· maintains understanding of audit methodology
· attends seminars to develop networking skills and identify cross-selling opportunities
Other duties
· adheres to the firms risk management policies and procedures, including being familiar with and consulting the audit manual
· contributes to departmental and office meetings
· undertakes special projects as and when required
· liaise with other departments to maximise client satisfaction
Carries out any other duties to meet with the needs of the business
