    TCL/LJ 256279: Our client seeks a Financial Control Manager for an assignment within its Sustainable Communities division.

    We are acting for a E London based local authority

    The post will be located in Romford, RM1 and will be for 36 hpw, Mon-Fri, normal business hours.

    This is anticipated to be, initially at least, a 3 to 4 month assignment.

    Please note that under a special arrangement we have with a leading umbrella company, temps who elect to get paid under this route will receive, in addition to a higher hourly rate of pay, the following benefits which are not available under PAYE:

    Essence of role:

    You will be engaged to take responsibility for the business functions and financial accountability of the commissioning unit. This includes effective placement, domiciliary service provision and income collection activities. Elements of the role include:

    • developing and maintaining a functional link with the Group Finance Manager and ensuring coordinated and consistent information on financial aspects of the teams.

    • developing and maintaining system integrity checks that demonstrate the validity of data produced and demonstrate the viability of underlying structures.

    • supervising and provide leadership and management to the activities of the following areas of work; income collection, placements, domiciliary services (including Direct Payments).

    • providing a flexible and timely response to the project management needs of the modernisation area as necessary.

    • ensuring timely, accurate and accountable practices in the area of contract management flowing from the work of the teams as a whole. At all times council’s procurement framework is to be the standard to be met.


    Candidate requirements (*indicates must be CLEARLY EVIDENT FROM YOUR CV, not just your covering letter, to avoid auto-rejection by client) include:

    *At least 3 years experience of local government / Management / project development

    *IT literate in MS Windows, Word, Excel & Outlook and knowledge of Groupwise & Social Care systems

    *Effective interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written

    *Proven organisational skills

    *Experience of Financial Modelling & Accounting

    *Well developed organisational skills

    Any community services related experience a bonus and could usefully be stated on your CV
