Our client is currently looking for an Assembly and Test Engineer to be part of a team designing, building and testing gravity gradiometer instruments. The role will be to provide specialist manufacture and assembly of gravity gradiometer components and systems.
MAIN DUTIES: *Develop understanding of instruments and technologies to allow manufacturing requirements to be determined and to ensure that full capabilities of available techniques are exploited. *Interact with engineers within the company to ensure this understanding and to advise on practicable solutions to manufacturing issues and good manufacturing practice. *In liaison with project manager, manage personal workload to ensure milestones are achieved. *To plan, perform and document final system assembly and testing of gravity gradiometer instruments. *Provide guidance to technicians (for example, standards of workmanship and technical problem solving). *Reporting of progress against agreed timescales both for individual tasks and projects. *Obtain and exploit best practice advice from appropriate internal and external sources. *Initiate, lead and support appropriate process and product development concepts. *Establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the business, in particular liaise with peers in similar roles to gain the benefits of common practices. *Maintain professional awareness of external developments in techniques and processes and identify where these may be used to benefit the business. *Implement quality policy and procedures as defined in the quality system. Be aware of and ensure compliance with Health & Safety policy and procedures.
DESIRED SKILLS: *Recognised apprenticeship or well qualified by experience. *Undergraduate degree in engineering or science or subjects. *Background in equipment development. *Broad range of assembly and/or test experience. *Experience of complex microelectronic assemblies. *Experience of micro-joining technologies. *Cryogenic experience. *Assembly techniques for micro-electronics and electronics assemblies. *Ability to generate and follow drawings, schematics and to specify components. *Cryogenics, superconductivity or SQUID systems. Integration of assemblies into systems. *Ability to design suitable assembly and test protocols, adapting them to reflect outcomes
